An Essay on Gratitude
What am I grateful for? How many things in my life enrich my existence so much that I want to give thanks? The list could go on forever but my thoughts can't help but run to things that we should all be thankful for. Driving today I was staring at the cloudy sky and was thankful the rain cleaned the streets and gave me that rich smell of wet dirt. I remember how this morning I was angry the rain kept me from my daily bike ride, but just this afternoon I was grateful that the clean, fresh air gave me the opportunity to inhale pure oxygen, feel healthy and vigorous. I am thankful for the ability to walk, run and be free. I am thankful for my family who loves me, children who fill my heart with joy, their laughter and games, for the freedom of my existence and the ability to say and do what I please.
These are just some of the gifts of nature and God that I'm thankful for. Tomorrow, I'm sure I will rejoice in more of the gifts that the Supreme Being gives to us all absolutely free of charge.
